Windows SharePoint Services (WSS) 3.0 Released to Manufacturing (RTM) today. You can download it directly from Microsoft Downloads here.

There is an upgrade path from the Beta 2 Technical Refresh release. If you have Beta 2 installed without the TR, you need to apply the TR before you can install the release version. The required upgrade path is:

“WSS 3.0 Beta 2 > WSS 3.0 Beta 2 TR > WSS 3.0 Release”

Regarding Windows Small Business Server 2003 (SBS 2003) – follow the instructions in “Installing Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 on a Server Running Windows Small Business Server 2003,” or the of SBS 2003 and WSS 3.0 may not work properly and probably will not be supported.

Watch the web site for the release of the Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 Templates. I have been in the partner feedback program for these templates and they are outstanding. I can’t comment on them however because NDA. They will increase the use of WSS big time.
