Migration considerations for Access 2007
For those that are looking at the deployment of the Office 2007 Suite, moving to the latest version for Microsoft Access can be a challenge.
If you have access databases that need to stay in an older version of the product, you might consider using application virtualization technology to enable running different versions of access side-by-side on the same PC or Terminal Server. I am most familiar with Microsoft Application virtualization (a.k.a. App-V) which is technology that was acquired from a company called "softricity" a couple years back with an original product name of "SoftGrid". SoftGrid was available since the early 2000′s – when it was really popular with application service providers.
Another option is to upsize the Access database to SQL Server. this will enable the use of Access as a front-end UI and SQL Server to store and execute the statements.
You can also migrate from an older version of Access to the latest Access 2007 product. There are some guidelines on how to do this in the Microsoft TechNet Library. you can link directly to the guidelines: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc178973.aspx
