I’m having the same problems. The direct download link does not work either. The upgrade button was grayed out. When I try transferring the books to my ipod, I get a different error message of unable to open the reader. Error 0xC00D2711 a problem has occurred with the digital rights management. I have been into my files twice to change the file to DRM.old and that doesn’t work either though it did for some other people with the same problem. Can anyone help?

I was having the same issue. The upgrade button was grayed out. I was trying to access the website in firefox. By opening the same page in an IE window it loaded no problem, I was able to click the upgrade button and it seems to have updated perfectly fine. I am now able to run downloads through OverDrive. Try loading the page in IE if you weren’t already.

Hmm. It sounds like the upgrade button on the website could be grayed out because it already detects you have the latest update for some reason. It might also be caused from not having ActiveX controls enabled.

I appreciate you helping where most library sites just seem to parrot the FAQ from the Overdrive site. However, I’m still running into a problem when I click the link you provided. The “Upgrade” button is grayed out for me, which means I cannot download the security file directly, and I can’t seem seem to find any other information on the MS site, aside from suggestions that I need to upgrade my version of Media Player. However, upon trying this, I am informed I have the latest version.

I’m wondering if why I can’t access the upgrade button is that I already have it, but it doesn’t explain why I’m still getting an error message about needing to upgrade my security.

I wish I had downloaded the player and realized that the security upgrade was going to make playing my book impossible before I checked it out.

Sorry I can’t answer this as I use Zunes and the Zune Software not an iPod. I can tell you that you can connect a Zune another computer running the Zune software and it will not delete your device content, but I have no idea with an iPod.

Overdrive Media just made direct downloads to portable devices (iPod)available at our library. I would like to download some
WMA files to my iPod,but I am afraid that they will automatically
delete all previous downloads if I connect my iPod to their site.
I have deleted all other files that were past the 2 week license
period, but I want to keep one inspirational audiobook that I listen to over and over. Will I lose it if I connect directly
to OverDrive? Tks, BRJ
